Well, after 30+ years my trusty overhead motor finally quit. Several overhead door companies never called me back so my daughter found this company, Precision Overhead Garage Door Service, in ValPak and they responded right away. In fact my daughter said she set an appointment for me for Sunday, which was just 2 days away! I said, "they come out on Sunday?"!! Well, yes they do, as it turns out.
Chasen was excellent, he explained my various options, answered all my questions and then sent me 4 different quotes on options that I was interested in.
I chose the Liftmaster Elite 8500 series. This is a jackshaft (or sidewinder as some people call them) that eliminates ALL the overhead stuff and puts the motor right beside the garage door itself. This is more expensive than overhead but I really wanted all that overhead stuff gone. I also had the springs changed and my once 400 lb solid-wood door I was struggling to lift manually for months is now so easy I'm not even sure I need a garage door opener LOL.
Chasen said with balanced springs a door should never be hard to lift, so mine were considerably out-of-balance, and as it turns out, undersized as well. He put several-sizes bigger springs on it. It's good to know that if my power ever goes out it will be a breeze to lift. I also opted for an external keypad which I've never had before but I'm sure will get a lot of use now that I have it.
Chasen did a great install and then went over how to use the system. I can't give a review on the Liftmaster system itself yet since it was put in yesterday but so far I'm super happy with the whole process -- it was pain-free (other than cleaning out enough of the garage so that Chasen had room to work . . . but that's on me)!
I highly recommend this company.
